Manavoid Entertainment has a good track record for me. From games like Rainbow Billy to City-Builder Roots of Yggdrasil, they take on interesting projects. Now, after a successful Early Access period, Roots of Yggdrasil is finally in 1.0 launch.

Roots of Yggdrasil entered Early Access back in January, and with the “Valkyrie’s Lament” update, the full release is done. Here is what the Steam page says about the “Valkyrie’s Lament” update of the game:

This update contains new characters, buildings[,] and over 100+ Changes and improvements! Over the course of Early Access, we’ve used your feedback to shape the game. We’ve added and reworked a lot of systems, but until now, most of the quests, characters[,] and collection was left incomplete. This changes now as we tie up those loose ends today! We are very excited to bring you this massive update. Hope you enjoy it“

Also to celebrate the 1.0 release, Roots of Yggdrasil has a 20% discount and a pause on any price increase for the next four days (seven at the launch of this news). Manavoid is also partnering with the developers of Jotun and Tribes of Midgard for the “Valhalla Awaits” bundle. Here is what the press release says about the bundle.

“To further celebrate the post-Ragnarok city-builder, Manavoid is partnering up with friendly Quebec studios[,] Norsfell and Thunder Lotus Games[,] to create the ultimate Nordic-themed Steam Bundle “Valhalla Awaits“.

Tribes of Midgard by Norsfell is a vibrant blend of survival and action RPG for 1-10 players that surpassed half a million sales on PC and PlayStation in the game’s first week alone.

Jotun – Valhalla Edition, the first game from indie studio Thunder Lotus Games, is a hand-drawn action/exploration game inspired by the epic stories of Norse mythology. Thunder Lotus Games then went on to release Spiritfarer in 2020 – nominated for Best Independent Game in 2020 and receiving the Editor’s Choice award by IGN with a stellar 9/10 rating – and has since announced their new title 33 Immortals which is a co-op action-roguelike for 33 players currently in Early Access.

The bundle will be available for the entire month with the best savings during Week 1 (Sept 6 – 13).

Overall, I think any opportunity for more city builders to be out there is a great thing for fans of the genre. This new update seems to have also added plenty of content for fans of Roots of Yggdrasil, and more content is always a plus.
